Didyma

Didyma, with its shallow sea and vast beaches, is one of our most important holiday resorts. Akbük, being o close to Didyma, is highly prefered for water sports. Its location, as being close to Priene and Miletus, and being on the way to Bodrum enables great importance to Didyma.

 The most vital historical remaining of Didyma is Didymaion (Apollon Tample). The tample, which was constructed in 7.century B.C. took its latest shape in 560 B.C.  Alexander the Great got the tample reconstructed  after the Persium invasion.  İt still holds the speciality of being the greatest tample of its time following the Ephesus and Sisam Tamples.Didyma, the most holly center of Miletus, was connected to the Miletus Antic City via a beautiful road,both sides surrounded by marble statues.

Some coloumns of the ruins of the tample are up again today, and it is claimed that through some reconstruction it could be possible to rebuild the tample.  Unfortunately, some of the pieces of the Holly Road were smuggled . Today, they are displayed at The Bitish Mueum.
